PORTLAND, ME – PORTopera’s 16th season of summer opera features a Brothers Grimm fairytale come to life with the company’s presentation of the classic opera Hansel and Gretel on July 29 and 31. This production, sung in English, will concentrate on what Artistic Director Dona D. Vaughn calls the real themes of the opera, “hunger and abandonment” while retaining “all of the magic for which the opera is famous,” making it a wonderful experience for adults and children.

PORTLAND, Maine – The Portland Symphony Orchestra today announced details of the Patriotic Pops program that will be performed as part of the July 4 Stars and Stripes Spectacular on Portland’s Eastern Promenade. Music Director Robert Moody will conduct the Independence Day program, with Suzanne Nance, host of MPBN’s Morning Classical, as featured vocalist.

Damariscotta, ME 15 May 2010. With Sting! Maine's Salt Bay Chamberfest Artistic Director, Wilhelmina Smith played cello in the orchestra that accompanied Sting on the Today Show this past Friday, May 14, 2010.

Organist Sophie Veronique has had emergency eye surgery and is unable to make the flight here for her appearance.  So our master class will not happen, and neither will the (FOKO)  concert at Merrill Auditorium on Tuesday.  This is obviously very short notice, so if you are able to call folks who you know don't have email, it would be a great help.
